Solid Ebonite Penrest Development Initiated a couple of years ago, i developed cast-type penrest. this time, i started developing solid ebonite penrest. the result of this project will look something like the picture below. main materials can be seen below. since color rods are limited in number, black ebonite will be produced in larger quantities. the development is at initial stage, so i am getting equipments ready, in the next posting .. 2023. 11. 18.
Super-durability type Raden research initiated I've always wanted to do Raden (techinique using mother of pearl) for urushi pens. however, due to its dubious durability i stopped myself from doing so. But I really do love the look of mother of pearl. above all it's a true beauty formed 100% naturally. therefore, i did not totally give up researching for super-durability raden technique. and today i announce the new beggining of its developme.. 2023. 11. 16.

ebonite feed (5G) + CON-70 fitting test The following have been observed during the fit test: 1) compared to 4th gen ebonite feed, which used a screw type ink converter, the con-70 increased ink capacity by 3~4 times. 2) when filling the ink, i noticed i have to dip deeper into to the ink bottle to achieve stable ink fill. compared to 4th gen, the dip amount increased. i think this is due to the quick suction of the ink by Con-70, as .. 2023. 10. 17.
5th Gen Ebonite Feed developed Finally completed the 5th gen ebonite feed the following have been upgraded: 1) super precision attained with ebonite material 2) more complex internal (inside grip) structure 3) equal level of complexity as plastic feed 4) high precision fit of given nib, through 3D nib groove machining 5) high level of fit, even without heat setting 6) Con-70 converter compatible 7) stable eye dropper performa.. 2023. 10. 17.
B & C for Urushi (new version) completed hello guys, new update for the new version of urushi pen development the following has been improved, compared to previous version: 1) internal & external thread is pretty much perfect now 2) the end point of internal & external thread is "escape type" previous type had a groove for thread tool escaping, which reduced strength/durability at that groove spot. 3) barrel and cap end contour more fl.. 2023. 10. 10.
Dodecagon Cigar Symmetry (Ultem) Developed Today i completed the grip section for the dodecagon cigar symmetry (ultem) now, the project is complete. for the grip section, i wanted to do dodecagon as well. unfortunately, it was uncomfortable to write with, due to the large spacing of the angles. so i tried 24, 36 angles. overall 24 angle was best. the following has been aligned: 1) barrel, cap, grip angle aligned 2) bock nib unit, when in.. 2023. 10. 3.
Dodecagon Symmetry "Cap" completed This time i completed the dodecagon symmetry ultem (cigar type). in the last post, i presented the dodecagon ultem barrel, which was quite hard to do. however, this time the difficulty was at least 2x. it was especially difficult for following reasons: 1. when closed the barrel and cap angle must line up accurately 2. there's three different ways the tripple thread engages when it closes. even w.. 2023. 9. 27.
Asymmetry Diamond Dodecagon Cap developed Asymmetry Diamond Dodecagon Cap developed This was a bit ambitious project for me, because i have not ventured into multi-facet machining. the required precision and requirement was quite high, and took months of hard work to master. the multi-facet comprises of 408 small triangles. depending on the view angle, the reflection pattern will change. it requires great precision for all 408 triangles.. 2023. 9. 20.
Dodecagon Symmetry "Cigar" Barrel completed So far, i could only make linear (rod) dodecagon. This was due to precision issues. the level of precision required is quite high, even for Rod dodecagon, for "Cigar" or Taper dodecagon even more precision is required. thanks to recent research, i successfully developed "Cigar" dodecagon barrel. Diamond & Ruby machining process developed For a while, i've been researching for multi-facet precision machining. This is a highly complex process requiring utmost precision. ideally 0.01mm precision is required, however, this is very difficult because all the inaccuracies add up. so far, i've achieved 0.04mm precision. i think 0.1mm precision is okay for sale. now i am trying to achieve 0.01mm precision, although this is gonna take muc.. 2023. 9. 10.

Prototype drawing of 5th gen Ebonite Feed (research log 6/18/23) i will be developing my 5th gen ebonite feed. based on years of experience on my 4th gen ebonite feed, i have found some areas i can improve upon. 1. first consideration is feed diameter usually #6 nibs have 6mm diameter feed. in order to make ebonite feeder more stably with greater durability i've chosen 6.5mm, same as the 4th gen predecessor. the nib is designed for 6mm feed, but 0.5mm diamete.. 2023. 6. 18.

Eureka ebonite feed 4G v4 (developed) while researching the adaptation for music nib, original feed seemed to lack the feeding capability. through research, the following has been discovered. by adding addtional top rib structure, the flow of feed increased by 2~3x easily. *the round grooves are for dual heart hole of music nib. from now on all eureka custom fountain pens will get this adaptation. for the owners of previous gen eure.. 2023. 1. 28.

ebonite Captop for #3776 century developed (Flat) with the development of ebonite captop, now it is possible to do urushi coating on this type of pen, after proper surface treatment. captop ring has been removed to gurantee better urushi fit / finish compared to original captop. original captop is attached to the cap via a plastic rod that extends from the inside of the captop in the photo below, it only shows the broken area where the rod used.. 2023. 1. 17.
