This time i completed the dodecagon symmetry ultem (cigar type).
in the last post, i presented the dodecagon ultem barrel, which was quite hard to do.
however, this time the difficulty was at least 2x.
it was especially difficult for following reasons:
1. when closed the barrel and cap angle must line up accurately
2. there's three different ways the tripple thread engages when it closes.
even with the different engagements, the angle alignment must be accurate for all three
3. the 12 angles and the captop logo must line up accurately
4. in addition to satisfying the above 1~3 conditions,
the internal thread 3D optimized entry form must line up as well.
5. internal / external features must be accurate and cleanly done
the different conditions must be satisfied at the same time,
it took over 50 prototype caps to achieve what i wanted.
so much time and effort was needed to fix 2%, even 1% of tiny details / errors.
my next project is the matching ultem dodecagon (or required geometry) grip
