O-ring related research for eureka pens

by Eureka_Admin

there's has been a feedback regarding ultem grip section

when charging ink, some bleeding happens.

so far, periodic cleaning is the only way deal with this, or just ignore it.

i could install oring @ inside wall of the grip section, like some brands.

however, this would sacrifice wall thickness by 30~50%.

so this means i would have to give up the good long term durability.

recently i discovered a simple new way to deal with this issue.

with the o-ring i had,

i tried installing it like below.

the o-ring is too thick (1mm), so i just ordered a special sized thin oring (0.5~0.6mm)

i couldn't install it firmly, becuase the o-ring would go over the Lip.

so a thinner o-ring is a must thing to try next.

also, i did some additional research for eyedropper users.

usually a small amount of silicone grease is used to seal the thread area.

i tried putting a oring at the end of the thread.

as can be seen, current designs are not suitable for installing a o-ring.

there's no o-ring groove for the current versions,

so, in the future i will put a small groove for oring.

also, a thinner o-ring should be used, so barrel part can go over the oring.

this will fully conceal the oring.

doing this will add additional protection for eyedropper style users.

it is possible to just rely on O-ring, without silicone grease.

although, this means the threads will become messy.

so the best would be to use silicone grease + O-ring to achieve 100% perfect sealing.
