This pen rest design is similar to previously developed ebonite pen rest (minor dimension changes).
This time the pen rest has been produced with Teflon material.
Here are some advantages of Teflon:
1) Ultra-Low Coefficient of Friction: One of the lowest values of any solid material, providing exceptional non-stick and self-lubricating properties.
Teflon will cause much less wear and tear to fountain pen compared to other materials (other plastics, wood, urushi, etc.).
2) Extreme Chemical Inertness: Unreactive to almost all industrial chemicals, solvents, strong acids, and bases, resisting degradation across hostile corrosive environments.
Even if the pen rest gets stained with ink, it can be cleaned with aggresive solvents such as acetone.
3) Broad Temperature Range: Maintains functional stability from cryogenic temperatures up to continuous operation at 260C (500F).
4) High Dielectric Strength: Serves as a superior electrical insulator with high breakdown voltage and low dissipation factor across wide frequency ranges.
5) Hydrophobic & Non-Wetting: High contact angle prevents water, oil, and liquid adhesion, making surfaces easy to clean and resistant to fouling.
6) Biocompatibility & UV Resistance: Completely biological inert, non-cytotoxic, and immune to UV degradation or weathering over prolonged outdoor exposure.
