Tough Slim Asymmetry barrel developed

a tough version of slim asymmetry barrel has been developed.

a while ago I got a feedback on slim asymmetry model (ebonite material).

the pen was dropped and frontal part of the barrel broke off.

 

upon receiving the feedback, I thought of a way to make the slim asymmetry stronger.

A drop test was performed onto a hard floor.

The ebonite and ultem asymmetry barrel got dropped from 1m height repeatedly.

 

The ebonite one broke after 5 drops.

The Ultem one didn't break even after 15 drops.

 

It seems that the frontal thread placement is the cause.

compared to the typical design where the thread is placed after the grip section, frontal thread placement gets more easily damaged when dropped. More impact force seems to act on the frontal thread design.

Also ebonite is more brittle compared to ULTEM.

 

So, this time I created a tough version of slim asymmetry.

the frontal and rear parts are thicker than the previous version.

the barrel is much thicker, so I guess it isn't slim any more.

 

due to the increase in thickness, parts aren't compatible between the original version and the tough version.

a batch will be produced in Deep Black Ebonite material, along with compatible Solid Color Ebonite cap.
