How to increase flow of 5th gen ebonite feeder (for 5th gen V1 only)

by Eureka_Admin

after creating the 5th gen ebonite feeder.
it passed my multiple inspection for ink flow.

however, recently i observed some feeds showed signs of inconsistent ink flow.
sometime the flow would slow down, then normalize again.

this occured for some feeds for unknown reason to me, although i am suspecting air bubble getting stuck a bit.
so when inspecting generally, this wasn't obvious at first.

from now on, all ebonite feeder will be sent with this modification, to prevent any future issues that may occur.

for those experiencing inconsistent ink flow, an easy modification can be done as shown below:

<Tools you can use for the modification>
- micro triangular file (I used it for this demonstration)
- folded thin sandpaper into V shape
- Razor blade (the more V shaped the edge, the better, but regular razor blade should get it done)
- thin sandpaper wraped over Razor blade edge
- or anything that can grind away the top portion into V shape,
or anything that can widen the top portion of the indicated ink channel

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<instructions> (Only do this modification if you feel the need for it !)
1) before starting make sure all parts are dried (water will make things slippery).
using your index finger and thumb, grab top portion of nib and bottom area of feeder.
then, remove the nib and feed from grip section (do not use lateral force, just pull it straight out)

if it feels stuck and can't be removed, grab the nib and feed in the same way as before and give it a strong twist, in the same direction as opening a bottle cap (Left direction).
this should make nib and feed rotate altogether. then keep rotating and pull out at the same time. this will work very well.

if you still cannot get it removed, contact me via email.

2) ok, so basically what you are trying to do is form a small V groove at the indicated ink channel area.
you can use anything that can widen the indicated area.
only the top area of this ink channel should be modified.

3) at first use light pressure back and forth to get the tool engage smoothly,
so it won't slip and affect other areas unintentionally.
after certain amount of grinding, the tool should move back and forth easily.
then increase pressure a bit more to grind the area a bit more.

4) repeat this until you match the amount of removal, similar to the picture below.
it doesn't have to be exactly the same, just roughly the same.

5) after assembling, if the flow still does not satisfy you, you can increase the grinding even more.
but after reaching certain amount of good ink flow, i do not recommend widening to extreme amount.
because there is a possibility this will increase the flow too much.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
after having done the modification myself,
it felt so much better personally.
it felt like i removed a limiter, which reveals the ebonite feeder's true potential
if you are experiencing the same problem, please do this modification.
