Today I conducted actual machining of the titanium grade 5 alloy.
I was a bit worried because on the internet there were comments warning about machining titanium.
since titanium has poor heat conductivity, it will burn up the tool if parameter is not correct.
Also, titanium has tendency to work harden, which is a headache.
So, it was important for me to get the feeling of how the titanium reacts to various machining operations.
After various tests, I concluded titanium is well within my machining capability.
Although I haven't done the slitting test yet, I feel pretty comfortable that it is not impossible.
Currently I'm tied up with another project, but I will continue to prep for the titanium nib production project.
