My Korean name is Sanghyeon Jeong (english name: David),
I am known as "The Fountain Pen Researcher" in South Korea.
I've been using fountain pen since middle school.
I often disassembled fountain parts and was fascinated by its various designs.
Although some pens were damaged during disassembly, I didn't mind the sacrifice.
during my college years (my major is English Education), I started experimenting with fountain pen nibs.
I tried various nib grinding, tuning, modification, etc.
then, I started researching ways to actually make a fountain pen.
that effort led to the creation of my first prototype fountain pen ("the waterdrop fountain pen")
after graduating from college, I went to the obligatory military service.
this is where I came up with various designs of fountain pens.
I also designed various machine designs for creating such pens.
At this point, much of the designs were based purely on my imagination.
I repeated that for the entire 2 years of the military service.
since I didn't have any access to tools and materials, everything was hypothetical.
then after the service, I stepped into the real world again.
at this point i had zero capital, limited knowledge of mechanical engineering, etc.
basically i started from almost zero.
so, i started my new adventure of fountainpen research in the year of 2017.
I continuously researched, designed, and created various machines required to create fountain pens.
After making the machines needed I made various initial fountain pen models / custom parts.
Some of my customers suggested I should try doing urushi on the ebonite parts I made.
So I started a new quest of urushi research (approximately since 2020).
everything was done in my apartment at this point.
there was so much restriction, due to various factors.
My personal research kept advancing to the point where,
space became a major hurdle that kept my capability supressed.
So, on the year of 2023, I moved out to a new place.
Now, I am writing this posting in the new place.
This place can be considered a proper Research facility / factory,
although It still feels more like a Research facility.
One year has passed since I moved into the relocated place.
So much has changed in just 1 year,
and still, so much more is to be done.
at this point, I feel like i just warmed up.
the following years will be the most exciting part of my life.
My passion for fountain pen research still feels the same as the initial stages.
I will continue to enjoy my adventure of fountain research,
In the process of which, I will encounter numerous "Eureka Moments".
After all, it is these eureka moments since the beginning,
that lead to the name, "Eureka Fountain Pen".
I really enjoy researching and working alone.
This is why sometimes the ouput is low.
however, please know that, no matter what,
I am always striving to come up with new ideas, methods,
and products that will bring eureka moment for all of us.
